Lunar New Year Celebration Workshop

On Feb 1st, we had an amazing time enjoying the Lunar New Year Celebration Workshop! Over 40 guests came together to learn and celebrate these traditions.

Attendees participated in a joyful ink painting activity, creating their own unique pieces. “I enjoyed ink calligraphy and the way to create a different types of cards, and the lettering as well” said an event attendee.

They also made and enjoyed Smiling Sesame Balls (笑口棗)—crispy, golden pastries symbolizing happiness and laughter.

Another highlight was the Prosperity Toss Salad (Yusheng, 鱼生), a vibrant dish where tossing the ingredients high brings good fortune and abundance. “Also, we learnt that a tradition is to toss food in the air for luck. The higher it goes the more luckier it is. So I had to peel mine off the roof!” said Tariq.

“I came here with my two girls, we are from Ukraine and for us it’s a very new adventure to be of the part of the Lunar New Year Celebration and it’s amazing to be together with people from different cultures, traditions and backgrounds. We had a great time together, a lot of fun, activities. I think it’s a wonderful place to be regardless of our differences. I think everybody should experience it. I strongly encourage you to do this.” shared Oksana.
