June wrap-up

This June we've had a lot going on from the annual Mill Street Sale to a food growing fair and more! Check out all the details below.

Mill Street Sale 8th June

On the 8th June we attended the annual Mill street sale, and what a fantastic day it was!

We were thrilled to offer a wide range of treasures — from plants 🌿, bric-a-brac 🕰️, books 📚, collectables 🧸, CDs 💿, clothes 👚, and toys 🧩 to furniture 🪑, pictures 🖼️, vinyl/LPs 🎶, and DVDs 🎥 — all generously donated to support a good cause.

At the end, we were generously donated items the local street sellers weren't able to sell back with us as donations! A big thank you to all those that took part and hope you had a fantastic day.

Food Growing Green Fair 14th June

On the 14th June we were invited to attend the Kingston Food Growing and Green Fair, hosted by New Malden Town Centre Partnership with funding from the Kingston 2025 project. The event consisted of Growers, Green spaces, Local environmental and community groups. We brought 3 main things: Plants to sell, all lovingly raised by Director Tariq Shabbeer. A new draft pamphlet informing the public of our growing projects (Including the recently taken on Kingston Orchard Project in Knollmead allotments). Lastly, a fantastic spread of Muffins and savoury Quiches made by the amazing Olivia Fong our kitchen co-ordinator and lead on our Kingston Intercultural Catering Service (KICS).

During the event, there was a competition stall for dishes made using surplus and locally grown ingredients. From this we'd also like to give a massive congratulations to Olivia for winning the "Best Savoury" category for her Quiches!

Collaborative Cultural games day 14th June

Somehow, simultaneously with the Food Growing and Green Fair, we also held another fabulous Collaborative Cultural Games Day at the warehouse with a collection of games we just have on hand and cultural games to share including Carrom board, chess, checkers and more.

Seething Craft fair 28th June

On Saturday the 28th, the team ran a stall at the Seething Craft fair hosted by the Community Brain. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made this possible, especially as this was on a Saturday when the warehouse was open!
